About Jonathan Knuttel

I was born in Dublin in 1972 and lucky enough to be born into a very artistic household. At that time my father was an artist, primarily a watercolourist and printmaker and my mother was a graduate of Art History. My earliest memories of the creative process was watching my father etching out images on copper plates that would later be used to make prints using an etching press which my father also designed and built. My parents house was filled with paintings and books about art and the conversation regularly centered around discussing various artists lives, their work and infulence. Among my fathers family are several noted architects and artists including Tomas Cooper Gotch who co-founded the Newlyn School of Painting and Archie Leech, better known as Cary Grant.

During my teenage years I worked for an Art Gallery in Dublin making picture frames for many Irish artists both alive and deceased, whos' work was exhibited in the gallery and it was at that point I started learning style and technique. I started creating my own work in my early twenties and have worked as a professional artist ever since My own work is included in many private and corporate collections throughout the world. Among those who added my work to their collections are Mr David Bowie-musician, Microsoft-USA, Mr Steve Martin-actor, Dr Hook-musician, Miss Ireland Franchise-Dublin ,Mr Damien Rice-musician, Brian Sommers Holidays-Northern Ireland, Yamamori Restaurant- Dublin, Aer Rianta International- Ireland, Ardal O'Hanlon-actor and comedian, Deutsche Bank-Germany, MCL Financial-Hong Kong,  Mr Alan Lau-Hong Kong, Rabobank-Netherlands, Mr Jim Curley CEO Jones Engineering-Ireland and the list goes on
